The Extreme 30" Aluminum Scope

Truss Assembly

This customer had purchased some Titanium poles for use on this telescope. They are 1" diameter by .028" wall thickness, and unbelievably light. These worked out supurbly well as using aluminum trusses on this large scope would have added a lot of extra weight causing balance issues, so we were able to avoid that.

Here's a truss connector. This is the top of a truss pair and the stud will accept the connecting ring. Those are 1" .028" wall Titanium tubes.

Tom is securing the 1/2" connecting ring by tightening the 1/4"-20 nuts on the top.
