The Extreme 30" Aluminum Scope

Sighting in - determining pole length

Here is the fun part. We are almost complete with the monster and we have one final task, setting up the telescope with mirror and sighting in a tower over a mile away to determine final truss length. We intentionally leave the poles long throughout and then the final step is to get the exact measurement and finally cut to length. We don't trust 'on paper' calculations, but prefer to do 'real world' tests so there are no surprises.

Lining up on a tower a couple of miles away.

Lookey here, set up for less than an hour and discovered a supernova already.

First view through the telescope.

Testing another eyepiece to verify it will come to focus.

Time to pack up and wheel it in. Excellent test of the wheelbarrow handles and ramps. All worked perfectly, no modifications necessary.

There's the tower way out there on the horizon.
