The Extreme 18" Aluminum Scope

Truss Assembly

This customer had purchased some Titanium poles for use on this telescope. They are 1" diameter by .028" wall thickness, and unbelievably light. These worked out supurbly well as using aluminum trusses on this large scope would have added a lot of extra weight causing balance issues, so we were able to avoid that.

Here's the assembled scope.

Here's a closeup of the bottom cam clamps locked down.

A clamp at the top end.
The trusses are joined in pairs so there's only 3 clamps at the cage. The system is fairly quick but can be finicky. No doubt practice will speed the procedure.
